The EMEA NBFI team, based in London and Frankfurt, covers a range of NBFI segments, including investment managers, securities firms, finance and leasing companies along with exchanges and clearing houses.
Job Description:
We are currently looking to add an experienced Frankfurt-based Associate Director or Director to our growing EMEA NBFI group. The successful candidate’s coverage will focus on a wide range of NBFI issuers, primarily in the European Union (EU-27).
Primary duties will include:
- Monitor a portfolio of existing issuer ratings. Perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative factors for existing and new issuers and prepare for and present at internal rating committees.
- Participate in credit rating committees for NBFI issuers' in the EMEA and other regions.
- Write and publish comprehensive rating reports on individual issuers.
- Frequently publish sector-specific research and insightful commentary.
- Lead regular meetings/calls with issuers (including senior management).
- Respond to external queries from investors, bankers and other fixed income market participants.
- Present Fitch at internal and external events.
- Lead and mentor more junior NBFI team members.
Qualifications and Experience:
Suitable candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Extensive analytical experience, ideally in credit- or audit-related fields, gained from working at a commercial/investment bank, accountancy firm, buy-side firm, rating agency, or similar.
- Background in either financial institutions or corporate credit analysis with a focus on Western European or other developed markets. Experience in analysing one or several of Fitch’s NBFI sectors (finance and leasing companies, investment managers, securities firms, or financial market infrastructure companies) is strongly desired.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and German is essential.
- Proficiency in another European language (in particular Italian, French and/or Spanish) is desired but not essential.
- Good educational background to at least a first university degree level, preferably with professional qualifications (such as CFA, ACA, ACCA).
- Ability to work independently as well as being a good team player. Line manager experience desired but not essential.
- Ability to cope with time pressure and work to deadlines.
- Strong writing and communication skills. Experience in presenting at external events.
- Strong command of financial statement analysis and experience with spreadsheet creation and analysis.
This position will involve occasional travel, primarily within Europe.
