Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for carrying out contract documentation and settlements processes for a range of physical commodities products traded out of the Hartree office in Hamburg, Germany, including bio-fuels, ulsd and various bio-blendstocks.

Daily functions include generating and transmitting contracts, processing broker recaps and counterparty contracts, verifying trade details, monitoring pricing, and updating the ETRM with actual movement details based on receipt of supporting documentation. Additionally, the analyst will handle sustainability tracking and paperwork for all physical movements, but within the internal Hartree ETRM and external regulatory systems.



Job Responsibilities

Contracts:

  • Generate, prepare, and review physical commodities contracts for a range Bio related products.
  • Reconcile trade details against trade tickets, counterparty contracts and broker recaps.
  • Analyze and identify contract terms that will place company and shareholders at risk.
  • Ensure terms of all contracts adhere to corporate risk policy and business standard.

Settlements:

  • Communicate with Schedulers and Traders to ascertain correctness of trade details, timing of physical product movement, and resolution of trade discrepancies.
  • Calculate, prepare and send invoices for provisional and final settlements.
  • Process costs associated with physical transactions.
  • Create and submit the settlement packets for cash payment and forecast.
  • Properly vet banking instructions for Counterparts and Vendors.
  • Call counterparts to obtain confirmation of daily cash receipts. Follow up on cash fails.
  • Monitor trade position, and alert Trader when position falls outside of tolerance.


Job Requirements

  • Escalate any issues to management that contradicts internal policies.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders such as Ops, Legal, Credit, Traders and Compliance to resolve identified risks.
  • B.A. degree or equivalent, preferably in a business, finance, or energy related field.
  • Proficient in MS Word & Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Fluent in both German and English Languages (Written and Spoken)
  • Commodities / Contracts / Settlements experience highly desirable.
  • Experience of Tempest (Triple Point) highly desirable.
