Controls & Instrumentation Engineer

 

The role:


BMI are looking for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to buildup knowledge and experience in the automation and controls domain for clay and concrete roof tile manufacturing lines. Your tasks include team integration and takeover responsibility for independent project execution. You will train and build up know-how with BMI’s SCADA solution and OPC server configuration and define the management process to ensure the achievement of these goals. Furthermore you will manage the change, engage and involve for full commitment of your team and foster the understanding of machine and process know-how for pitched roofing manufacturing lines.

 

The position contains frequent international business trips and work at different BMI locations within Europe. You could be based at one of our production sites in Germany, e.g. Heusenstamm, Werne, Bamberg, Saarwellingen, or in the Netherlands, Groningen, and/or work partially from home.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • responsible for the definition, implementation and support of projects in the domain of Manufacturing Controls
  • manage external automation suppliers (project scope definition, supplier evaluation, factory acceptance testing)
  • provide experience in PLC programming, preferably Siemens S7/TIA portal
  • provide experience in configuration of drives (converter/inverter)
  • setup & configure SCADA systems according to manufacturing requirements
  • support the Operation Technology team in the configuration of SECURE networks & OT devices such as PLC, HMI, Drives
  • supporting electrical and maintenance staff in the plants in case of troubleshooting issues

 

Qualifications:

·      university degree (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering

·      or qualified technician (electrical, IT) with professional experience

·      Fluent English


Experience:                                                                                                                   

·      experience in the process or manufacturing industry (preferably)

·      Programming skills, background in automation and controls, affinity to IT

·      Implement controls systems & support shop floor control projects

·      Electrical planning skills

·      enthusiasm to work in the digital world

·      Instruct & monitor external suppliers

·      Collaborative working style

·      Structured & transparent

·      Flexibility to accept change and uncertainty in a challenging environment

·      Willingness to international travel (40% to 60%)
