The European Corporate Finance Department (ECFD) is the Client Coverage and Origination team for European Corporate and Financial Institutions clients of Mizuho in EMEA, and is responsible for the client management of over 350 global companies. The ECFD Coverage Associate Team is the team created to provide in-depth business support to the six Industry Teams in ECFD Coverage.

Job Responsibilities:
The Coverage Associate Team is capable of providing a highly flexible level of support across the business by undertaking a breadth and depth of activity encompassing client management, business development and marketing, deal origination and reporting. The team is designed to build a cohort of multi-disciplined, highly trained, technically-gifted junior professionals. Team members will follow a structured programme of learning and development incorporating key technical skills, industry and client knowledge, product understanding, risk and conduct awareness and personal skills. This learning will be undertaken whilst also building knowledge and understanding of Mizuho, and the culture and behaviours that underpin the organization. To operate as an Associate within the ECFD Coverage Associate Team, the candidate will need to:
- Proactively participate in client relationship management and origination, working closely with the portfolio Relationship Managers
- Support client engagement and business management activities such as client analysis, preparation of presentations and submissions to business and credit committees
- Collaborate with key product partners and stakeholders across international offices and divisions of the bank in support of client relationships
- Demonstrate a desire to learn and gain a breadth of knowledge and understanding
- Assist in the preparation of: internal briefing papers and memos, client account plans, client relationship return models, high quality presentation materials and pitchbooks and financial analysis to support marketing activity and credit applications for new transactions
- Assist in the coordination and execution of transactions with the relevant internal product groups and business functions
- Support business idea generation by providing in-depth analysis and forecasting, financial modelling and research on clients
- Develop and maintain a strong network across the Bank. In particular, develop strong relationships with key internal decision-makers including the credit team, product teams and ECFD Management.
Profile:
- University Degree or equivalent with professional qualifications
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, modelling knowledge and skills in corporate finance
- Prior experience within a top tier Corporate or Investment Bank in a client-facing role/team
- Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements
- Self-motivated, passion for and track record of achieving good client outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with both internal stakeholders and external clients
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Proven track record in desktop analysis and possession of a strong technical skillset
- Computer Literacy – MS Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Powerpoint
- Creativity and an eye for detail when compiling pitch books for client presentations
- Languages: English and German required, further European languages desirable
