The opportunity

The Area DPM is an experienced data protection professional or compliance professional with apassion for data privacy/data protection, intellectual curiosity, comfortable with operationalimplementation of data protection, and the ability to seamlessly cooperate cross-function andcross-border. Personal integrity, independence, self-discipline and self-motivation are all keyattributes, as well as being a strong team player to operate in a collegiate and collaborativemanner.

Your key responsibilities

As the DPM you will:

  • Take a leading role in driving the implementation of the Global Data Protection program initiatives in the Area, in particular:
    • policies and guidance;
    • compliance and monitoring;
    • incident management;
    • training and awareness;
  • Work with Area Risk Management, Area Legal and the Regional DP Leads on compliance and monitoring initiatives;
  • Coordinate the implementation of Global Risk Management's Data Protection initiatives and leading practice throughout the Area.
  • Be the go-to specialist resource on the respective Data Protection program activities for the Area, in particular - for the Regional RM Leaders/Service Line Quality/ Compliance teams, whom you will actively support in the conduct of their activities;
  • Be the Area's main point of contact on Data Protection matters and liaise directly with the Global Data Protection Leader;
  • Actively contribute to Global data protection initiatives;
  • Support the coordination of Global PIA assessments across the Area, in particular review of timely action plan completion;
  • Report to EMEIA Risk Management Leader and receive support from the Global Data Protection Leader.
  • Identify potential gaps and leading practice in EY's data privacy framework, both at the Global, Regional and Country level . Where gaps are identified, help develop implementable solutions that can be rolled out throughout the Region. Similarly, where leading practice is identified, share the knowledge with other Data Privacy professionals in the Area and encourage implementation on a broader basis;
  • Be a vocal member of the EMEIA and Global Data Protection community and set the tone-at-the-top for l Risk Management Data Protection activities in the Area.
  • Support the EMEIA Area Lead/Global DP Lead in maintaining regular communications with Regional Data Privacy Leaders: providing support through guidance, training and awareness, identify issues and collect best practices
  • Actively interact with Area and Regional Functions/SLs Data Privacy Champions;
  • Regularly report to the EMEIA RM leadership on the status of Data Protection initiatives implementation and gaps in the region/country practices; escalate matters as necessary
  • Contribute to the creation and roll-out of Area Data Protection materials and their updating;
  • Proactively identify upcoming Data Privacy laws (e.g. e-privacy Regulation), develop necessary Area/Regional controls and support local countries' teams for their compliance;
  • Support the development and delivery of Data Protection training and awareness initiatives across EMEIA regions and area;
  • Support the deployment and completion of the IRM tool to assess and track Area/Regional Data Protection Risk Assessment for the regions.
  • Support the completion of the Attestor questionnaire to assess and track Area/Regional Data Protection confirmation of BCR compliance for the regions.
  • Contribute to the closure of Global PIAs through the coordination of local regional/country evaluation, action plan completion and communication with the Global PIA team.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Connectivity to the business - The DPM must be committed to developing a detailed understanding of EY data processing activities in the organization, including the interface between country, Region, Area and Global levels.
  • Subject matter expertise, in particular - good knowledge of the European data protection framework and general understanding of data privacy rules in non-EU countries.
