Technical Support Engineer (m/f/d)

From cellular screening and imaging applications to high-throughput screening and genomics-based applications, we offer innovative, application-driven laboratory automation solutions.

With a complete portfolio for high-throughput multimode plate detection, high-content analysis and liquid handling, PerkinElmer is uniquely positioned to understand scientific and application specific needs. Additionally, a wide range of instruments from other vendors can be integrated.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support for our Automated Robotic System equipment.

You will assist in all phases of support and service, including pre-planning, installation, and post-installation operations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Act as the field service/customer advocate for all instrument and service-related issues reported from the field
  • Monitor and review daily escalations (level 3) through email and phone calls to provide rapid response for troubleshooting, including resolution recommendations
  • Prepare installation deliverables (site readiness), transfer technical and factory knowledge about systems to the field. Work with engineering and production teams to create project specific installation instructions
  • Support new product development efforts by providing critical input and evaluation of design-for-service
  • Maintain updated service documentation and regularly distribute service update communications to field service organization
  • Develop and deliver training through blended learning platforms including virtual and online classes as well as instructor classroom lectures and laboratory sessions

Your success profile:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree, (e.g. biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.) or aligned experience
  • relevant professional engineering experience, ideally with a broad understanding of various engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, Pneumatics / Fluidics)
  • experience in delivering technical training, e.g. to field service engineers
  • fluent English language skills (verbal and written) and good level of German (minimum B1)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and ability to communicate across different levels internally and at customer sites
  • Outstanding problem diagnosis and solving skills including data interpretation, ideally with experience with remote service connectivity
  • Self-driven team-player with an ability to work in a highly dynamic and complex business environment
  • Very strong knowledge of MS-Office and other basic software
  • occasional flexibility with regards to working hours to facilitate occasional global calls, as well as open to global travel on an infrequent basis
